UFC’s McGregor: I’d ‘kill’ Mayweather in less than 30 seconds on the Octagon

UFC Featherweight Connor McGregor is never the one to shy away from showing his confidence.

He’s so confident that he believes he “would kill” Floyd Mayweather Jr. if the WBC, WBA Welterweight Champion finds the gall to climb on the Octagon.

In an interview with Esquire, McGregor, also known as ‘‘The Notorious’’, said that one fighter who masters one area isn’t a specialist but should be treated as “a rookie in 10 other areas.”

“If you can box, what happens if I grab hold of your legs? If you put me face-to-face with Floyd Mayweather—pound-for-pound boxing’s best—if I fought Floyd, I would kill him in less than thirty seconds. It would take me less than thirty seconds to wrap around him like a boa constrictor and strangle him,” McGregor said.

McGregor is set to face UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo in UFC 189 and has gone under the skin of the champion numerous times.

‘‘The Notorious’’ stole Aldo’s belt twice, the second one requiring numerous security personnel and UFC President Dana White to separate the two.

Mayweather may yet climb the Octagon but someone from the eight-sided cage has the mouth to equal ‘‘Pretty Boy’’.  AU
