A NEW set of tennis talents emerged winners in the recently-concluded Ozamiz City leg of the 2015 Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group tennis series.
Immaville Gervacio of the host city and Cagayan de Oro’s Janelle Llavore copped the girls’ 18-Under and 16-U crowns in the tournament that attracted nearly 200 participants.
In the boys’ side, Brent Cortes from Lanao del Norte copped the 12-U title after dominating Rupert Tortal, 6-2, 6-1, but bowed to Andrei Cuevas in the 14-U finals. Cuevas, also topped boys’ 16-U as he bested Francis Hidalgo of Cebu, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. The next leg is set in Zamboanga del Sur on April 11.
“We’re happy that through this series, we are able to provide opportunities to provincial tennis talents,” said Jean Henri Lhuillier, the Philippine Davis Cup team manager.
OTHER WINNERS: Laurence Joy Obdina, boys’ 18-U; Nash Agustines, boys’ 10-U; Sydney Ezra Enriquez, girls’ 12-U winner; Janmarie Anghag, girls’ 14-U.
