VANNI Garcia bested all comers to rule the Quick 8 class in the third leg of the 2015 Philippine Drag Racing Championship Northern Series held recently at Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
Garcia clocked 9.362 seconds to prevail over William Hand and his “Blue Haze” machine in the final showdown. Garcia earlier ousted defending champion Jonathan Tiu in their semifinal duel.
Tiu later turned back John Ryzia and his classic Chevrolet named “Thunder” to claim third place.
“It’s been a long time, and it feels good to win again,” said Garcia.
Sharing the spotlight with Garcia was Martin Manalo, who clinched the M&H Pro title over Ryzia.
It was Manalo’s second triumph in the class and his third overall in the National Championships, giving him the overall lead in the hunt for the coveted Drag Racing crown.
Kenneth Bayani, who lost to Manalo in the semifinals, placed third.
