Amit’s Team East opens 5-2 Queen’s Cup lead

RUBILEN Amit and Chinese world No. 1 Chen Siming boosted Team East to a 4-2 victory over the West in the three-on-three play last night as the hosts took a 5 matches-to-2 lead in the AM8.com Queen’s Cup at Resorts World Manila.

After the rousing win, Chen showed why she’s the finest player in the world when she drubbed Jennifer Barretta of the United States, 4-2, in the singles match.

Earlier, the Filipina two-time world champion sustained the form that earned her wins in the doubles and singles in Thursday’s Day 1 which ended with Team Asia holding a 3-2 lead in the 10-ball team event.

Amit, Chen and Park Eun-ji of South Korea prevailed in the three-on-three over the Team West combination of Billiards Congress of America Hall of Famers Ewa Laurance of Sweden and Karen Corr of Ireland, and Barretta.

Amit and Park downed Laurence and Vivian Villareal of the US, 4-3, in the doubles of the first-to-win-10-matches duel.
