Pacquiao gets good run up to iconic Hollywood sign
Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao spent his Friday morning with a road run up to the iconic Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.
Article continues after this advertisementAssistant trainer Buboy Fernandez said that Pacquiao’s conditioning is already where it needs to be with a little over 2 weeks left before the megabuck bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
“We ran 54 minutes [48 seconds] going to the Hollywood sign itself. That means [Pacquiao]’s conditioning is in different level already,” Fernandez said in a video taken by Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Roy Luarca.
“When you compare that [to his usual route], he’s really fast.”
Article continues after this advertisementThe Filipino boxing champion’s longtime friend said that Pacquiao also takes about the same time when running up to the Griffth Observatory and Dante’s Peak.
Fernandez, who assists head trainer Freddie Roach in preparing their prized boxer, said they have decided to give Pacquiao the afternoon off since he will also start with the sparring sessions on Saturday.
“We’ll do 12 rounds of sparring tomorrow so we need to get a good rest,” said Fernandez.
