Lim gets backing from ITF-GSDF

The International Tennis Federation-Grand Slam Development Fund (ITF-GSDF) has thrown its support behind Albert “AJ” Lim, the country’s top junior player.

The ITF-GSDF will help bankroll Lim’s bid in five tournaments this year, including the French Open in Paris in June and the Wimbledon in London in July.

Coach Martin Misa said Lim got the backing of ITF-GSDF due to his impressive performance the past two years, including back-to-back wins in India last January. He also competed in Futures tournaments in Sri Lanka.

“The support of ITF-GSDF is very vital in my bid to fulfill my goal,” said the 15-year-old Lim, currently ranked 64th in the ITF rankings.

The 5-foot-7 Lim, an incoming freshman at University of the East, is also thankful for the continued support of the Philippine Sports Commission under chair Richie Garcia.
