PAUL Lee, Rain or Shine’s super point guard, will be missing a tooth when Game 4 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals is played tomorrow at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
Lee has elected to forego a dental implant until the end of the Elasto Painters’ championship series with the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters.
The Painters hold a 2-1 lead after blasting the Texters, 109-97, last Sunday.
The 6-foot dynamo—forced out of the floor from the 5:07 mark of the third until the final 4:23 after getting nailed in the kisser by an Ivan Johnson elbow that reorganized his dental configuration—will wear a mouth guard for the rest of the series.
With its Game 3 victory last Sunday, Rain or Shine has taken command for the first time in a playoff matchup with Talk ‘N Text in three conferences.
“We only kept doing what we did in Game 2 because we didn’t see any defensive adjustments that we anticipated from them (Texters in this game),” Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said.
“I will play,” Lee said in Filipino after game 3. “I will play no matter what happens. I want to win a championship.”
Meanwhile, Lee and Jason Castro are contesting the Best Player of the Conference award, which will be handed out before Game 4, also at the Big Dome.
