DAVAO del Norte and Davao region’s top corporations have forged a marketing partnership worth P7.9 million for the hosting of the 2015 Palarong Pambansa on May 3 to 9.
Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario announced the partnership whose scope and magnitude was unheard of in previous Palaro editions where the host provinces usually shoulder the expenses with little help from sponsors.
“Your support fuels the success of the national games,” said Del Rosario as he led the contract-signing ceremony recently.
He also underscored the role played by sponsors in the Palaro which is also expected to generate income for the host province.
Palaro hosts foot the bill of the student-athletes from 17 regions in terms of food and accommodation. The organizing Department of Education provides the uniforms of the estimated 10,000 participants.
Del Rosario was joined by ANFLOCOR Group of Companies chair Antonio “Tony Boy” Floirendo Jr., and Tagum Agricultural Development Company Inc. president Alexander Valoria during the contract-signing. They are the main sponsors of the weeklong meet.
Major sponsors include Davao Light and Power Corporation and Coca-Cola Femsa Philippines. Other donors are TYR Mindanao, Provincial Governments of Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley and Smart. Marc Reyes
