AAP inducts Tan into Hall of Fame

CITING his decorated racing career and significant contributions to the promotion and development of motorsports in the Philippines, the Automobile Association Philippines inducted Johnny G. Tan to its Motorsports Hall of Fame during the 20th AAP Awards Night held recently at World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Tan was aptly described by the AAP board of directors as the man who “dared to go where no man has gone before” for his unparalleled and unequaled passion to local motorsports racing.

Previous awardees were Conrado “Dodo” Ayuyao, Pocholo Ramirez, Eddie Marcelo and Dante Silverio.

Tan’s career began in 1986 when he  competed in a karting race in Libis, Quezon City.  His first major achievement was the Karter of the Year award in 1988.

Tan built a world-class karting track in Carmona, Cavite, Batangas Racing Circuit, Kart Track Boomland in Pasay, Kart Track Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna and  Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
