Siblings Denise and JT Bernardo head the cast of the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala regional age group UP Los Baños leg which got under way Friday at College Country Club inside UPLB in Laguna.
Denise Bernardo is vying in girls’ 16-under along with top seed Bettina Bautista, No. 2 Blanche Lagrisola, third ranked Miles Vitaliano and fourth seed Arianne Nillasca while JT Bernardo heads the 10-unisex cast that includes Patrick Salvacion, Magnus Gnilo, Luis Salvacion and Kidlat Estogero.
Over 200 players have signed up for the Technifibre-presented event, forcing the organizers to also tap Baker Tennis Club and the Maktec Tennis Club as venues.
“It’s inspiring to see these young players so eager to play and compete,” said Palawan Pawnshop COO Bobby Castro.
The next leg will be held in Cebu-Consolacion on May 7 to 12.
