LAS VEGAS — Super middleweight boxer J’Leon Love thinks Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be too much for Manny Pacquiao when the two finally meet in the ring on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Love, who once served as a sparring partner of the pound-for-pound king before eventually being signed to his team, has no doubt Pacquiao is going to end up just like the rest of the undefeated Mayweather’s previous opponents.
“It’s definitely one of the greatest fights to ever take place. I think Floyd will be victorious, I think Floyd is really gonna dominate Manny Pacquiao,” said Love after wrapping up his training at the Mayweather Boxing Club.
Mayweather is “just too smart” and “too skillfull” of a fighter, Love added.
He also said Mayweather is still in “intense” training with the megafight just a little over a week from now.
As much praise Love has for Mayweather, he also acknowledges what Pacquiao is capable of and what the Filipino ring superstar has been able to contribute to boxing.
“I’m taking nothing away from Pacquiao. He’s a great, great fighter and has done a lot for the sport. He’s really one of the most exciting fighters. I say Floyd Mayweather then Manny Pacquiao – that’s how I rank the two.”
Part of Mayweather’s Money Team, the 27-year-old Love said he’s blessed to be associated with the WBA and WBC welterweight titleholder, whom he even compared to basketball legends Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.
“Being with Floyd is also like being with Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant. These are the greatest, these are some of the names that will go down in history when we’re long gone,” said Love, who holds a record of 19-1, with 10 knockouts.
“It’s definitely a blessing from up above. I’m soaking it all in. Like anybody else, I’m a fan and I’m just happy to be able to experience it and witness this.”
