Freego Cup: Hot Eaglets whip Junior Tamaraws
ATENEO debuted with a 78-50 crushing of Far Eastern University even as National University, Malayan School, University of the Philippines-Integrated School and De La Salle-Zobel rolled to their second straight wins in Group B recently in the 8th Smart-Philippine Chinese Amateur Basketball League Freego Cup at Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City.
BJ Andrade powered Ateneo to a resounding Group A win with 17 points while six other players, including Philippine Under-16 ace Shaun Ildefonso, scored seven points or more.
Andrade was later named Freego Best Player of the Game.
Article continues after this advertisementIn a big follow-up to their 94-90 win over defending champion Chiang Kai Shek College in the opener, the Juniors Maroons outlasted the Arellano University Junior Chiefs, 98-92.
In the other Group A match, DLSZ outclassed AMA, 110-46.
Malayan fought back from 20 points down to upend Adamson, 84-75, JRU slipped past Lyceum, 72-70, and NU routed UE, 92-40.
