MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE 2) Filipina-American Ana Julaton dominated her Mexican-American challenger to keep the World Boxing Organization super bantamweight crown.
In the match aired live on television from the Craneway Pavilion Point Richmond in California, Julaton had Franchesca Alcanter’s number from the get-go, landing solid punches, most of which found their way into the Mexican-American’s face.
The three judges gave the 10-round bout to Julaton with scores of 96-94, 98-92, and 97-93.
Julaton, based in Daly City but trains at Roach’s famed Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, owns a 7-2-1 fight slate. She outlasted Mexican Maria Elena Villalobos by split decision last year to take the 122-lb title.
