Espina: We’re confident Pacquiao will win

Philippine National Police officer in charge Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina and the 150,000-strong force are placing bets on boxing champion Manny Pacquiao to win his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

With only four days until the much-anticipated match, Espina, on behalf of the entire police force, cheered for Pacquiao as he prepares for his May 3 bout with the American boxer.

“Para kay Manny ang lahat; kami dito sa Crame. Lahat ng sambayanan, sigurado at umaasa manalo ka,” Espina said at the sidelines of the PNP Academy’s Lakandula class of 2015 Badge of Honor Ceremony in Camp Crame.

“Pagbutihin mo, taguyod mo [ang mga] Pilipino na lagi mong ginagawa. We are all proud of you and behind you. Siguradong mananalo ka,” he continued.

Espina recently made headlines after he offered resignation to President Benigno Aquino III as the PNP OIC to give the latter a free hand in choosing the next chief of the police force.

Espina has become the sentimental favorite to become the PNP chief.

He resigned amid the wait for Aquino’s decision on who will take over the PNP’s top post after the suspension and resignation of Director General Alan Purisima. AC
