JOSE Rizal University will shoot for a third straight win Wednesday in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The JRU Heavy Bombers of coach Vergel Meneses will take on the University of San Jose Recoletos Jaguars at 11:45 a.m.
JRU edged Far Eastern U, 57-55, in their Group A opener on Saturday before holding off the College of Saint Benilde Blazers, 72-66, last Monday.
The Heavy Bombers, after the graduation of Jaycee Asuncion, Philip Paniamogan and Michael Mabulac, is now pinning its hopes on high-scoring guards Paolo Pontejos and Teytey Teodoro, forward Marco Balagtas and center Abdel Poutouochi.
Standing in the way of Jose Rizal’s third win is the visiting Cebuano team that got blown off the court by Letran, 89-66, also last Monday.
The Jaguars will count anew on shooting guard Iron Suano and forwards Kevin Villafranca and Criss Galvez.
Making their tournament debut are Lyceum, now coached by Topex Robinson, and Centro Escolar U, fourth placer last year.
The two sides clash at 11:45 a.m., followed by the clash between NCAA rivals Perpetual Help and Letran at 3:15 p.m.
Perpetual will bank on reigning NCAA Most Valuable Player Earl Scottie Thompson, Chris Elopre, Flash Sadiwa, Gab Daganon and Ric Gallardo.
