AFP chief predicts unanimous victory for Pacquiao

It will be a unanimous victory for boxing champion Manny Pacquiao on his fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Las Vegas on Sunday (Philippine time), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Gregorio Catapang Jr. said.

“His fearless forecast is Pacquiao will win by unanimous decision. He sees the way Mayweather fights. He will run but he can’t hide,” Armed Forces spokesperson Brig. Gen. Joselito Kakilala told reporters at Camp Aguinaldo on Wednesday.

The boxing match at MGM Grand Garden Arena between the two legends has been dubbed “The Fight of the Century.”

As with tradition, the AFP will hold a free screening of the Pacquiao fight in almost all military camps. The boxing icon is a reservist in the Armed Forces with a rank of lieutenant colonel.

Kakilala assured that security would not be compromised during the fight and that enough troops would be deployed on the field.

He was also confident that even insurgents and terrorists would also watch the boxing match.

Manonood din ang kalaban natin. They are excited to watch and probably they will leave their firearms behind. We hope na manood sila and we encourage them to watch the fight. That’s a historic fight,” he said.

“Proven na ’yun, zero crime rate. May unity pala sa ganitong endeavor ni Pacquiao … May respite tayo from violence,” Kakilala said. RC
