Sherwood ICTSI leg moved to Thursday; two aces back

MANILA, Philippines—Elmer Salvador and Tony Lascuna return to the ICTSI-Philippine Golf Tour after a fruitless campaign on the Asian circuit as top favorites in the P1-million ICTSI Sherwood Hills Golf Classic, which has been rescheduled to start Thursday at the Sherwood Hills Golf and Country Club in Trece Martires, Cavite.

Heavy rains spawned by Typhoon “Pedring” forced the organizing Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc. to also move the traditional pro-am tournament slated today for tomorrow.

Salvador, third in the Order of Merit race with P812,019 in earnings, has three runner-up finishes in the local circuit.

Lascuna, fourth in the OOM derby with winnings of P764,219, finished second twice this year, including a playoff loss to Robert Pactolerin at the ICTSI Negros Occidental.

Also expected to contend are defending champion Marvin Dumandan, Jhonnel Ababa, Jay Bayron, Cassius Casas and cousins Mhark Fernando and Anthony Fernando, Artemio Murakami and Gerald Rosales, who finished second in last week’s final leg of the Asian Development Tour in Kuala Lumpur.

At stake for the winner is P200,000 in the 54-hole event serving as the 12th leg of the 16-stage circuit sponsored by ICTSI.
