Blu Boys, Blu Girls join Summer Grand Slam

THE RP BLU Boys and Blu Girls will see action in the 9th Summer Grand Slam as guest teams as part of their preparation for the coming Southeast Asian Games.

The annual Summer Grand Slam, slated May 13 to 16, is returning to the parade grounds of the Clark Freeport for its ninth season. The deadline for registration of participants has been extended to May 10.

“The Summer Grand Slam has honed local and international softball players including the national men’s and women’s teams,” said Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (Asaphil) president Jean Henri Lhuillier.

The tournament will have a single round robin for the eliminations with the playoff format to be determined by the final number of teams.

The Open division champions will receive P30,000, the runners-up  P20,000 and the third placers P10,000. The prizes in the club divisions are P15,000, P10,000 and P5,000.

Returning as men’s champion is Philippine Air force I, which downed   Philippine Navy for the title last year.  Chikara from Brunei will also defend its women’s Open championship.
