China dismantles India, starts U23 Asian Volley on win

Showing they are the giants of the tournament, China easily picked India apart, 25-9, 25-13, 25-17, in the Group B preliminaries of the 2015 U23 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship on Saturday evening at Philsports Arena.

China was on a class of their own easily putting points in a hurry as India’s receiving game could not keep up with the Chinese.

India head coach Vaishali Phadtare admitted that her team lacked the receiving game against China despite her team’s attacking.

“Our attack was good, but we failed a little bit on the receptions,” Phadtare said. “Everyone knows China is the giant so we tried to keep up with their pace.

China head coach Xu Jiande, through a translator, said both of the teams played “very good” and they “were happy to win this game.”

India has a win-loss record of 1-1 but they are tied with China for first place in Group B with three points.

Macau, the third team in Group B, does not have a single point after giving up three sets against India on Friday.

India team captain Muraleedharan Shyamala Poornima said if her team got their receiving game right they could’ve taken the match.

Zeng Yixing and Song Meili combined for 24 points for China while Nirmala led India with 10.
