Filipino netizens quickly took to social media to vent their emotions after Floyd Mayweather ran away with the belt in his fight with Filipino People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao Sunday.

While some were bitter over Pacquiao’s loss, others met it with a smile and some humor, poking fun at Mayweather’s “hugging” and “running” during the fight.

Twitter user @phytos said: “Niyakap-yakap ka tapos sasaktan ka din pala? Na-Mayweather ka dre. (He will hug you then hurt you? You have been ‘Mayweather-ed’)”

A meme circulated with Mayweather’s head shot planted on “Frozen” character “Olaf” with the caption “I am Mayweather and I like warm hugs.” Memes also circulated with the undefeated boxer offering “free hugs” to Pacquiao.

Some netizens said Mayweather would be the “perfect boyfriend” saying “he hugs too much.”

Asked about why Pacquiao lost, Twitter user @sergiocutie said: “Gumawa ata ng kasalanan si Pacquiao kagabi kaya natalo” (Maybe Pacquiao committed a sin last night that’s why he lost).

Meanwhile, Filipinos threw their support for Pacquiao despite his loss.

“Mayweather wins the title. Pacquiao wins the hearts,” Twitter user @pcessmarie said.

Mayweather said Pacquiao was “one hell of a fighter.”

Mayweather won via unanimous decision 118-110, 116-112, 116-112, in what was dubbed “The Fight of the Century,” which pitted the world’s best boxers of a generation. AJH
