Wong-Chan rules John Hay Invt’l

Luigi Paolo Wong and top amateur Aidric Chan pooled 116 to bag the overall gross title in the Camp John Hay Invitational at John Hay Golf Club in Baguio City over the weekend.

The Wong-Chan pairing, which reached the finals of the recent Philippine Amateur Match Play, carded two 39s in the Best/Better ball format on the first day. The former scored 39 and the latter added 38 in the aggregate format on the second day of the 36-hole championship among John Hay members and their guests.

John Gerald Marasigan and Patrick Villanueva made two 45s on the first day and scored 40 and 43, respectively, on the second to finish with 127 and bag the overall net title.

Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan and partner John Bertiz took the Class A crown with 125, defeating Juan Miguel Garcia and Eduardo Garcia (120); Jocelyn Sevilla and Violeta Pegels pooled 126 to top Class B over club chair Bob Sobrepeña and Thirdy Escaño (118); Teddy Cheong and Frank Ram made  125 to cop the Class C title over Benjamin Favis and Wilbert Uy (122); while Juanito Co and Henry Malicdem ruled Class D with 127, nipping Rachele Julian and Lanie Julian (126).
