Chabon grabs 1-shot lead

Sofia Chabon sizzled when all the others struggled, firing a two-under 70 to seize a 1-shot lead over Thai Pimnipa Panthong going into the final round of the Singapore Junior Golf Championship late Thursday.

Chabon, already the winner of the RSGC AmBank Junior Amateur Open in Malaysia last month, hit two birdies on each nine against two bogeys to pool a 36-hole total of 147 at the Keppel Golf Club.

The young ICTSI-The Country Club bet shot a 77 in the first round.

Panthong triple bogeyed No. 3 and dropped two shots on No. 9 to limp home with a 76 for 148.

The Thai, however, kept the pace in 15-17 play, two clear of American Chloe Wong (77-150), with Pauline del Rosario third at 151 after a 75.

Abby Arevalo ballooned to an 80 to be in joint fifth at 153 with Sam Martirez (78-153).
