Chinese Taipei stuns India, claims 5th spot in Asian U23 Volleyball

Making the most of the opportunity, Chinese Taipei switched to attack mode and detonated against India, 25-17, 25-23, 25-9, to secure the fifth spot in the Asian U23 Women’s Volleyball Championship on Saturday afternoon at Philsports Arena.

Chinese Taipei was deadly from the service line with 12 service aces compared to India’s five.

Their futile second set almost became nonexistent when they turned things around in the third to the horror of India.

With the loss, India finishes as sixth in the inaugural tournament.

Chang Li-Wen led Chinese Taipei with 18 points while Chen Tzu-Ya Wu Wei-Hua added nine points apiece.

Indian captain Muraleedharan Shyamala Poornima had 11 points for India.
