Pauline del Rosario and Bernice Olivarez-Ilas fumbled with over-par rounds but still topped their respective divisions as erstwhile leader Sofia Chabon cracked under pressure and blew her overall title bid in the Singapore Junior Golf Championship late Friday.
Del Rosario bucked a double-bogey finish and took the Class A crown despite a 74, finishing with a 225 and nipping Chloe Wong of the US, who closed with a 40 and a 75, in the countback in the premier 15-17 bracket.
Olivarez-Ilas, on the other hand, parred the last two holes to salvage a 76 and pool a 227 as she edged ICTSI-The Country Club teammate Chabon by one for the Class B (12-14) title.
Chabon, who took the overall lead with a 70 Thursday, held on with gutsy pars in the first four holes but bogeyed four of the last five and tumbled down the leaderboard. She finished with an 81 for 228.
Thai Pimnipa Panthong cashed in on Chabon’s foldup and bagged the overall crown with a 219 after a 71.
Sam Martirez placed third in Class A with a 231 after a 78, nipping Abby Arevalo, who also made a 78, in the countback while Mika Fortuna (77) ended up fourth in Class B with a 236.
