JUSTIN Baltazar and John Clemente towed National University past Malayan School, 86-71, to snap the latter’s four-game winning run and gain a piece of Group B lead in the 8th Smart-PCABL (Philippine Chinese Amateur Basketball League) Freego Cup held Saturday at the Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City.
Baltazar fired 10 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth period to help the Bullpups repel the Red Robins’ comeback and tie Jose Rizal University at 4-0.
Baltazar also had 11 boards, six blocks and four assist to bag the Freego Player of the Game award, which he shared with Clemente who finished with 22 points.
Meanwhile, Xavier School finally barged into the win column after three attempts by edging Lyceum, 80-77, in the tournament backed by Plastic Linoleum, Hapee Toothpaste, Insular Square and Fed Seal.
