Meralco tries to round out the Final Four cast on the last day of eliminations in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Open Conference Tuesday.
The Power Spikers, whose Sunday win snapped a three-game skid, clash with the winless Coast Guard at 4 p.m. at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
Another victory will give the Power Spikers solo fourth spot at 4-3 and propel them to the semifinals with unbeaten PLDT Home Ultera (7-0), Army (6-1) and Cagayan Valley (5-2).
Although a loss will put them into a tie for fourth with idle Navy (3-4), the Power Spikers still hold the edge in tiebreak points.
Maica Morada stepped up in last Sunday’s must-win match by firing 17 points to lift the Power Spikers past Fourbees-Perpetual, 25-11, 25-12, 25-14.
Crucial matches are also up in men’s action as five teams fight for the last three semifinal berths in the Spikers’ Turf Season 1 Open Conference.
Champion Infinity and PLDT Home Ultera, sharing second with 4-2 records, try to dispose of separate opponents to advance to the next round.
Only Cagayan Valley, the solo leader at 6-1, has secured a Final Four seat.
PLDT tangles with winless IEM at noon, while Champion faces a tougher opponent in semifinal hopeful Cignal at 2 p.m.
Air Force, locked in a tie with Cignal at 3-3, also vies to stay in contention versus Fourbees-Cavite at 10 a.m.
A five-way tie at 4-3 remains a possibility, which would result to playoff matches for the last three semifinal slots.
