Yao Zhikui won via split decision over Nolan Ticman to start UFC’s first card in the Philippines Saturday evening at Mall
of Asia Arena.

Judges scored the fight 29-28, 29-28, 29-28 with two of them giving the fight to Yao and one to the Filipino-American Ticman.

It lacked the fireworks that was expected but quality shots from both fighters landed when it mattered.
Yao landed a solid knee then a few moments later hit Ticman with a powerful right straight that almost put the Fil-Am flat on the mat in the second round.
With the win, Yao improved to 2-3 while Ticman went to 4-3.
