Thai LPGA: Superal ties for 9th

PRINCESS Superal fumbled with a late double-bogey mishap and hobbled with a 74, ending up joint ninth in the Singha-Sat Thai LPGA Championship in Nakhon Nayok, Thailand, won by fellow amateur Parinda Phokan late Friday.

Superal, who stayed in contention with birdies on Nos. 9 and 11, flubbed a couple of birdie chances in the next five holes but had an errant drive on the par-5 17th, ending up with two 37s and a 54-hole total of 217.

That was six strokes behind Phokan, who fired a 71 and nipped pro Budsabakorn Sukapan by one with a 211.

Sukapan made six birdies in the last 14 holes to cop runner-up honors at 212, nipping Pavarisa Yoktuan and Supamas Sangchan, who both had 71s, in the countback.

Superal remains upbeat of her chances heading to this week’s Queen Sirikit Cup where she will spearhead the country’s bid with Pauline del Rosario and Yuka Saso.
