HEALTHY for the first time in the PBA Governors’ Cup, Arizona Reid is making San Miguel Beer look like a powerhouse once more.

The braid-haired import dropped 41 points on Globalport Sunday night, towing the Beermen to a 124-102 victory that snapped the Batang Pier’s three-game winning streak at Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay.

Reid, who played with a stomach virus in the first two games, gunned down nine three-pointers as San Miguel played with command practically the whole night and won for the second straight game to rise to 2-2.

“It just feels good to be 100-percent healthy,” said Reid, who made just a total of 4-for-19 triples in the first two games where he averaged 22. “I was able to make my shots (tonight).”

Meralco rose to an even 2-2 card later in the night after taking down defending champion Star Hotshots (formerly Purefoods), 83-81.

Andre Emmet, the journeyman who is providing a lot of scoring for the undersized Bolts, accounted for four of the last six Meralco points and made the assist to Danny Ildefonso with 68 seconds left that proved to be the marginal basket.

The Hotshots, who dropped to 1-2 after their second straight defeat, bungled a chance to forge overtime, or even win it, when Marqus Blakely missed a three-pointer just before the buzzer.

San Miguel, with Marcio Lassiter hitting five, drained a total of 18 triples against the dumbfounded Globalport defense.

Those nine Reid triples also matched the franchise-best mark held by the prolific Lamont Strothers and former Rookie of the Year winner Emmanuel “Boybits” Victoria.
