JUMBO Plastic tries to revive its playoff hopes when it clashes with Liver Marin today even as AMA University tangles with MP Hotel in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at JCSGO Gym in Cubao, Quezon City.
The Giants dropped a 72-83 decision to Café France last Monday, putting their playoff aspirations in peril.
But a victory in the 3 p.m. clash will allow Jumbo Plastic to tie idle Kera Mix at fifth spot. While the top two seeds will clinch a place in the semifinals, the No. 3 and No. 4 will also have a twice-to-beat edge in the quarterfinals against the No. 6 and No. 5 seeds, respectively.
With a 3-5 record, AMA University is also under pressure to overcome MP Hotel in the 1 p.m. match. The Titans’ fate though is already out of their hands as they would need other results to go their way even if they win today.
The Giants are barely hanging on to the sixth and last qualifying playoff spot with two more games left.
“Our last two games are very crucial to our campaign,” said Jumbo Plastic coach Steven Tiu. “Hopefully we’ll be able to find a way to survive these challenges.”
The Giants are pinning their hopes on Philip Paniamogan, Denise Villamor and Tristan Perez.
