PLDT, Army start title series today
UNBEATEN PLDT Home Ultera and an Army side struggling with consistency begin their best-of-three title series today for the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Open Conference crown at Filoil Flying V Arena.
The match is set at 4 p.m. with the Ultra Fast Hitters hoping to move within a victory of the crown. PLDT is also looking to complete a sweep of the tournament, but pulling off the feat is easier said than done with Army’s experienced squad.
With Rachel Ann Daquis, Jovelyn Gonzaga and the power-hitting Dindin Manabat in charge at the net, the Lady Troopers have the tools to stun the Ultra Fast Spikers.
Army won the title last year at the expense of Cagayan Valley, relying on experienced campaigners like Tina Salak.
PLDT beat Army twice early in the tournament with the Ultra Fast Spikers winning in four sets in the semifinals. A resilient performance against Meralco underlined PLDT’s mental resolve in tough situations.
PLDT’s youthful attacking trio of Alyssa Valdez, Jaja Santiago and Gretchel Soltones has proven to be a handful to opposing teams.
