KOREAN expatriate Park Min-ung assembled a 6-under-par 66 yesterday to take a four-stroke lead over old nemesis Rupert Zaragosa in the second leg of the Sta. Lucia Amateur Tour at Summit Point in Lipa City.
Park, who lost to Zaragosa in a lopsided finals of the Philippine Amateur Match Play recently, missed tying the course record set by Juvic Pagunsan after closing out with a bogey on the 18th.
Zaragosa settled for a 70 and the quartet of Dan Cruz, JP De Claro, Lanz Uy and Justin Quiban fired 72s.
Harmie Constantino grabbed the lead in the women’s side after a 69, leading Daniella Uy by a shot in the event sponsored by Wilcon Depot, Pomelo Tee, Davies Paints, Mizuno and Kang Ho Bong.
Zaragosa, who bid the junior ranks goodbye in grand style by winning the boy’s match play title, 9 and 8, over Park, bogeyed a three-hole stretch from No. 3 and needed to play catchup to salvage that 70.
The other backers of the event are ICTSI, AQEI, WGC Golf, Isuzu, Dizon Farms, Texas Eagle, Rub Ribs, VMJ Evergreen, Ecostrong, U-Freight, Gatorade, Dunlop, Boysen, Security Bank, Royale Homes and Microtel by Wyndham. Musong R. Castillo
