JUMBO Plastic and AMA University drew big games from their sweet-shooting guards in posting victories yesterday at JCSGO Gym in Cubao as the two squads kept their quarterfinal hopes alive in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
Philip Paniamogan unloaded 23 points off the bench as the Giants rolled past Liver Marin, 87-66, to hang on to sixth spot with a 4-4 record.
“Hopefully, we could play with the same type of aggressiveness in our last game so we could avoid any complications,” said Giants coach Steven Tiu.
James Martinez also sizzled with a day-high 28 points to lift the Titans to a 99-87 blasting of MP Hotel in the first game.
The Titans wrapped up their elimination run with a 4-5 card and stayed in seventh spot, but they could still move up if KeraMix or Jumbo Plastic blow their remaining assignments.
“There’s nothing we can do now but wait,” said Titans coach Mark Herrera.
Only the top six in the 10-team field will advance to the next round.
Triples by Martinez and Jeremy King in a 10-2 surge helped the Titans pull away in the final minute, 90-81, after MP Hotel came within a point, 80-79.
