AN Army sergeant looked tense; he looked at his team reeling from an adversity so fast they could not keep up.
Heat compounded their situation as a barrage of attacks came from everywhere on the floor.
He was used to winning, but this time his team was so battered just handling two people.
“This time, our defense just fell apart,” Rico De Guzman said after his Lady Troopers fell in four sets against PLDT.
De Guzman’s game plan was to contain PLDT’s Alyssa Valdez and Jaja Santiago.
Valdez and Santiago, however, picked his game plan apart.
PLDT’s fearsome duo combined for 46 points.
“They’re too hard to defend,” De Guzman said as the Finals series of the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference got tied up at 1-1.
“I was surprised at Jaja, she’s so good. If she’s in the middle, I might have to get a three-woman block to stop her.”
Still De Guzman promised his team would put everything on the line on the third and final match.
“We’ll give it our all.” AC
