Archers seek share of Filoil-Flying V lead vs Cards
LA SALLE guns for a share of the Group B lead against struggling Mapua in a key encounter Wednesday of a heavy five-game bill in the Filoil-Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Rookie Andrei Caracut looks to sustain his impressive showing in the preseason league when the Green Archers —who have strung up four straight wins after an opening-day loss—tackle the Cardinals at 5 p.m. hoping to tie idle leader Centro Escolar University (5-1).
In Group A, UAAP champion National University and Jose Rizal University dispute solo second spot in the 6:45 p.m nightcap.
Although the Bulldogs are coming off a 65-52 trampling of Adamson, NU coach Eric Altamirano wants his players to come out more focused.
“There’s a glimpse of what we can do, but we’re still not consistent,” he said.
The Bombers, whose wins included a 57-55 upset of Far Eastern U, hope to post another stunner over the Bulldogs.
Both the Bulldogs and the Bombers are tied at 4-1 behind Perpetual Help, the only unbeaten team in five games.
The other Group A match pits St. Benilde versus Adamson at 3:15 p.m.
In Group B, University of Santo Tomas battles Lyceum at 11:45 a.m. and University of the Philippines takes on Southwestern University at 1:30 p.m.
