Barako Bull big man Rico Maierhofer took to Twitter his apologies after the Office of the Commissioner handed him a P20,000 fine.
In a series of tweets sent by Maierhofer after he was summoned to the PBA Office in Libis, the beanpole center aired his side and said that the “shoe-palpal” incident was just his “defensive instinct” when his team faced the San Miguel Beermen (SMB).
“I would like to apologize for the misconduct (action) I did the other day against SMB. It is wrong and ‘di dapat tularan. It won’t happen again,” said Maierhofer through his account @ricomaierhofer.

He continued, “As a pro player, dapat professional din ang actions, kaya I promise na ‘di na mauulit ang misconduct (action) na ginawa ko (As a professional player, I should act professionally as well so I promise not to repeat that misconduct).”
“Defensive instinct lang po and it is wrong. Sorry po sa lahat ng na-offend. It won’t happen again,” Maierhofer said.
The league office deemed the incident as a “blatant misconduct that disrespects/mocks the game and unprofessional in nature.” IDL
