They may have reached the .500 mark but Norman Black’s Meralco have been mediocre in the PBA Governor’s Cup.
Black said he wants to see more consistency from his players as the Bolts have not found their momentum in the final conference of the season.
Meralco is now at 3-3 but haven’t had a sensible win streak that could get their motor running.
“Consistency, focus, all of it needs to be done,” Black said Friday as they humbled Blackwater 87-72 at Smart-Araneta Coliseum. “Defensively, understanding every game we play [because] we are going to be undermanned.”
Black concedes they do not have the size compared to other teams. Veteran Danny Ildefonso is the tallest man in the Meralco roster as he stands at 6-foot-6.
Black said they have to improve their team defense as it is their only chance to match up with the larger teams of the league.
“We need to do a better job on our team defense, rotating, not leaving our men, closing out, challenging shots, more importantly boxing out for rebounds.”
