Filoil: UE returns to winning form, squeaks past by SWU

/ 07:55 PM May 29, 2015

Emil Palma led the way for University of the East as it scored a 63-59 win over Southwestern University Friday in the 2015 Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at the Arena in San Juan.
The sophomore guard sizzled with 18 points and added four rebounds to bring the Red Warriors back to their winning ways after losing to La Salle two weeks ago.
Shrugging off the rust from UE’s long hiatus, Cameroonian center Bertrand Awana was a force down low, scoring six markers and hauling down 10 boards.

More importantly, he provided coach Derrick Pumaren the interior presence the Red Warriors needed to defend the Cobras’ Congolese big man Boko Mupungo.
RR De Leon and Edgar Charcos combined for 15 in the win for UE, which is now at 5-1.
Mupungo paced SWU (1-3) with 20 points and 11 rebounds, as Daryl Goloran had 15 markers.
