As the Meralco Bolts held the Blackwater Elite at bay in the fourth quarter, its Asian import wanted to increase the lead even more.

With his team up 71-61 early in the fourth quarter, Seiya Ando went to work. Then went back to his work about four times in less than six minutes.

“I just take shots, that’s it,” Ando said of his fourth quarter takeover where he scored eight of his 12 points.

Ando drove, pulled up, played defense, picked some pockets, and was just a nuisance to the Elite.

With 3:31 left in the game, the Japanese gave the Bolts an 83-67 lead with a beautiful reverse layup.

Ando said his fourth quarter play resulted from him getting comfortable with his teammates, after an ugly first half put them on the ropes.

“First half was very bad, second half we were aggressive,” Ando said Friday as they won 87-72. “Second half, everybody was comfortable, we had a good defense, and we went on the fastbreak more.” RC
