ADAMSON edged University of Santo Tomas, 80-77, to clinch a quarterfinal berth even as Jose Rizal U forfeited its game against National U in the 8th Smart-PCABL (Philippine Chinese Amateur Basketball League) Freego Cup last Tuesday at Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym.

The JRU management said their players are still in a state of shock following the death of player CJ Servillon and would pull out of the tournament.

UST joined Adamson and Group B qualifiers Malayan andNU against Group A’s DLSZ, Ateneo, University of the Philippines-Integrated School and Arellano.

Malayan routed Hope Christian HS, 85-53, to finish at 6-1.

FEATURED STORIES

The Junior Archers topped Group A after downing UPIS, 80-60. Ateneo ripped Arellano, 91-76, and finished second.

In other games, Letran blasted  Perpetual, 101-68, while Far Eastern U downed Chiang Kai Shek, 67-64.
