PBA: Ginebra set to replace Asian import

Midway through the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup, Ginebra has finally decided to send Sanchir Tungalag home.

The Mongolian import has been lackluster in his stint with the Gin Kings, norming only 4.0 points on a 33-percent shooting to go with 2.0 rebounds in 10.3 minutes across four games, highlighted by his benching in the game against Talk ‘N Text.

Though Sanchir got the sympathy of the crowd, that didn’t really replicate on the court as he failed to crack the rotation of coach Frankie Lim.

Lim, though, was non-committal about the change, and said that the Mongolian will still suit up in their game against San Miguel.

“He’s playing tonight. On the next games, I still don’t know,” said the Ginebra coach.

A team insider, though, confirmed that Korean guard Jiwan Kim is set to replace Sanchir in the Ginebra bench. He is set to arrive to the country tomorrow at 11 a.m.

Kim, 24, previously played for Incheon ET Land Elephants in the Korean Basketball League where he averaged 5.09 points, 1.87 rebounds, and 2.24 assists in the 2014-2015 season. CC
