PBA: Garcia explodes as Barako stuns Rain or Shine
RR Garcia exploded for Barako Bull as the Energy stunned Rain or Shine, 112-103, Sunday in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup at Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The sophomore guard went 4-of-7 from three to finish with a career-high 26 points, alongside three rebounds and three assists.
“It’s only numbers, but it won’t do you any good if we will remain here,” said coach Koy Banal of Barako Bull’s all-time franchise best 5-1 start. “We just have to focus on the task and finish it.”
For the sixth straight outing, a different Energy player provided a breakout game for the squad, proving that Banal’s belief in his boys truly is paying off.
“They showed that they have the character. RR (Garcia), Joseph (Yeo), JC (Intal), they all held fort when Rain or Shine made runs,” he said.
Towering center Liam McMorrow also had a fantastic game, lording over his Elasto Painter counterparts as he wound up with 32 markers and 25 rebounds.
Joseph Yeo added 19 points in the win.
Wendell McKines finished with 41 points and 17 rebounds for Rain or Shine as the E-Painters fell for the second straight game and dropped to 1-4.
Paul Lee chimed in 10 of his 21 points in the payoff period, as his late fightback went flat in the endgame. CC
