IÑIGO Anton maintained the lead in the Formula Cadet Novice Championship after finishing second in the Palawan leg of the National Karting Series recently.
Anton, driving for Castrol-Yokohama, took the pole in qualifying in his Kart Plaza-Works Bell Kart and then engaged his closest contender Constantin Reisch in a thrilling race in which they traded places at the front at least four times.
“I am happy that we managed to keep the lead at the halfway mark,” said Anton, who has won two of the first four races in the series and is now busy preparing under mentor Edgen Dy-Liacco of Edgesport for the Asian karting series kickoff in Macau later this month.
“It will be a good experience for Iñigo to race in Macau for the first time,” said his father, multititled car racer Carlos Anton. “He will surely learn valuable lessons there that will help him improve as a racing driver.”
Iñigo will join the Philippine contingent vying in the first leg of the Asian Karting Open Championships. He will race against other drivers from the Asian region at the famous Kartrodomo De Coloane track.
