Bolts rip Texters in record-setting fashion

Meralco set a record for its most lopsided win in franchise history with a 119-85 ripping of Talk ‘N Text Tuesday night in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup at Mall of Asia Arena.

Sean Anthony led the Bolts’ assault with 24 points, 12 rebounds and six assists while import Andre Emmett had 36 points.

“It’s really nice to get some momentum and try to establish a winning streak even if it’s just two games,” said Meralco head coach Norman Black. “We played good defense and we displayed good offense.”

The Bolts shot a remarkable 56% from the field while also clamping down on the Texters, who shot just 41% and turned the ball over 16 times with only 11 assists.

Steffphon Pettigrew posted 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Texters, whose 34-point loss equals their worst since suffering a 122-88 setback to Petron Blaze in the 2013 Governors’ Cup.

Meralco also shot the lights out from deep going 13-of-23 with Emmett making all of his six attempts from that range.
