Women’s water polo bets get Hapee support

A more confident Philippine women’s water polo team will debut in the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore next week.

Initially unsure how to gear up for its campaign, the water polo squad got its training rolling after getting a big boost from Lamoiyan Corporation, the makers of Hapee Toothpaste.

“It’s our own way of helping our national athletes,” said Lamoiyan president and CEO Dr. Cecilio Pedro. “We have been helping our national athletes but this is our first time to help the water polo team. They will compete using their own money so that shows their determination and character.”

For the past weeks, the water polo team trained in Lamoiyan’s swimming facility in Parañaque. The squad also received uniforms and training suits.

Kunti Dasi Tibby, Danyca Kloie Evangelista, Lia Trisha Co and Lyllian Grace Banzon banner the Nationals, who will be up against the Singaporeans, Indonesians, Thais and Malaysians, their first opponents on June 10.

“They may not have the experience of other teams, but they have big fighting hearts, so I salute them for that,” said Hapee team manager Bernard Yang. “I wish them well in their drive to gain recognition.”

Rounding out the squad are Sachi Dasi Tibby, Christine Grace Hipol, Daniella Camyl Evangelista, Bea Felise Garrido, Krystal Rae dela Cruz, Carla Beatriz Grabador, Trixia Paulette Caguitla, Dara Clariza Evangelista and Jobelyn Ocampo.

The coaching staff includes Reynaldo Galang, Dale Evangelista, Ricardo Dilapdilap, Edmund San Pedro and Ireneo Bautista.
