Late push for Star in PBA Govs’ Cup still possible, says Marqus Blakely
It has been a struggle of a conference so far for Star, going on a three-game skid before snapping it last Saturday with a win against Kia.
At 2-4, the Hotshots are in danger of missing out the playoffs as they currently sit among the bottom four teams this Governors’ Cup.

“I’ve been here when we have lost, but right now, it’s more about focusing on the team and how we get better. I still think that we’re in the right direction of putting it together and if we put it together, I think we’ll get a couple of wins in a row,” he said.
And the victory over the Carnival was a big one, as Blakely said that Star saw its old deadly form in that game in Angeles City.

The former Best Import awardee is also unfazed of the trend of replacing reinforcements. He said, “If I get replaced, I get replaced so I’m just doing whatever I can right now while I’m still here for the team and get as many wins as we can.”
Blakely is confident that the Hotshots are still in the thick of things, and only a few tinkering could bring the team back to their winning ways.
“We just have to come to every game the same way, the defensive mindset, the execution, being able to get stops when it matters, try to switch on and put teams away and keep it,” he said. CC
