SUCCESS continues for Perpetual Help’s Earl Scottie Thompson after bagging the NCAA Most Valuable Player award last season.
As one of the 12 collegiate stars chosen to suit up for the national men’s basketball team, Thompson says he’s living a long-time dream.
“When I was just a child, I dreamed of playing for the country,” Thompson, who grew up in Digos City, Davao del Sur, said in Filipino.
Thompson, together with Ateneo’s Kiefer Ravena, San Beda’s Baser Amer, National University’s Troy Rosario and Far Eastern University’s Mac Belo, are set to lead the Gilas Pilipinas cadet team vying for the gold in the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.
“Just knowing I was picked in the team is already an honor,” said Thompson, who also starred in Hapee’s championship romp in the PBA D-League last conference.
Although the PBA already beckons, Thompson vowed to play his final season with the Altas in the NCAA starting June 27.
“Without them (Altas), I wouldn’t have made it this far,” said Thompson. “I have other dreams like playing in the PBA and hopefully winning a championships there.”
