S’woods pulls away
MANILA Southwoods-Masters slowed down with a 196 but still pulled away by 78 points, virtually completing its back-to-back title romp in the premier class of the 23rd Champion Infinity Luzvimin Golf Championship at Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club in Davao City Thursday.
After a 59-point start, or five-under par in stroke play, Fil-Japanese settled for 52 Molave points, the same output of Sunshine Baraquiel, while Marie Claire Ong and Lora Roberto each fired 46 for 196 as the Carmona-based squad went unassailably ahead at 413, counting their impressive 217 effort Wednesday.
Rancho Palos Verdes, with Sun-Ae Kim and Maricel Kim shooting identical 44s, kept second spot at 335 after a 168, just one ahead of Del Monte, which produced a 170 for a 334 in the 54-hole event organized by the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines.
Southwoods’ Yuka Saso also paces the individual race with a five-point lead over Baraquiel.
