The Philippines has won its first gold medal in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games courtesy of triathlete Claire Adorna in Singapore.
Adorna on Saturday clocked in two hours, 13 minutes and eight seconds to bag the gold.
It is double celebration for the Philippines after Adorna’s compatriot Kim Mangrobang finished in second with a time of two hours, 14 minutes and 26 seconds, copping the silver medal.

The race, which consists of a 1.5-kilometer swim in open water, a 40-kilometer bike ride and a 10-kilometer run, was held in Singapore’s East Coast Parkway.
Sarunthai Arunsiri of Thailand got the bronze medal with a finishing time of 2 hours, 22 minutes and 8 seconds.
As of posting time, the Philippines has one gold, four silvers and three bronzes to rank fourth in the medal tally. Host nation Singapore continues to lead the pack with a 21-medal haul including 10 golds. IDL
