S’woods posts record romp
MANILA Southwoods-Masters proved too much for the Diamond field as it ran away with a record 104-point romp over Del Monte with a closing 204 while Villamor I topped the Emerald division of the 23rd Champion Infinity Luzvimin Golf Championship at Rancho Palos Verdes in Davao City Friday.
Filipino-Japanese Yuka Saso matched her first round five-under card worth 59 Molave points, Lora Roberto fired a 52, Sunshine Baraquiel added a 51 and Marie Claire Ong tossed in a 42 for that 204 as the Carmona-based squad closed out with a 617 and kept the premier championship in the 54-hole tournament organized by Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines.
That was 104 points ahead of Del Monte, which pooled a 513 after a 179 while Rancho Palos Verdes shot a 154 and a 489 for third in the event sponsored by Champion Infinity, Metro Pacific, Sen. Sonny Angara, OJ Calderon, Golf Depot, Ping and Shell.
Kristine Torralba shot a 48 as Villamor I pooled a 173 for a 527 and beat Southwoods-Legends by 26 for the Emerald crown.
